A working screenplay and production toolkit built by filmmakers. Draft in the browser, or run it on your desktop.
Filmmaker Pro is a working set of writing and planning tools. The feature list below reflects what ships today — not a roadmap.
Industry-standard formatting for scene headings, action, character, dialogue, parentheticals, and transitions.
Structure work into acts and sequences. Track scene-level notes as you draft.
Automatic index of who appears where, so revisions stay coherent.
Draft, revision, and export snapshots keep earlier versions retrievable.
PDF and plain-text export for scripts and breakdown sheets.
Same core toolkit in the browser and in the desktop builds — pick the workflow that fits.
Prefer the web app — it's the fastest path in and always current. Desktop builds are provided for offline drafting.

Windows and Linux/Source builds require Python 3.11+ installed on the host. macOS build is self-contained.
Do not drag USG Filmmaker Pro.app directly to Applications. On macOS 13 and later, that path triggers “Apple cannot check it for malicious software” with no Open button (the app is not yet Apple-notarized). The DMG ships with a helper script that handles installation cleanly.
USGFilmmakerPro-1.0.0-macOS.dmg to mount it./Applications, strips the quarantine flag, and launches it.Already dragged the app and got blocked? Open Terminal and run:
xattr -cr "/Applications/USG Filmmaker Pro.app"
Then open the app normally. macOS remembers the choice afterward.
The web app stores drafts on our servers so you can pick up on any device. Desktop builds store drafts on your local disk — nothing leaves your machine unless you export or sync.
We do not currently claim SOC 2 or HIPAA certification. Treat drafts you upload to the web app as you would any other cloud-hosted document.
A short honest description of the moving parts.
Fountain-compatible screenplay engine with industry-standard element parsing (scene / action / character / dialogue / parenthetical / transition).
PyInstaller-built macOS bundle. Self-contained — no Python install required for the macOS DMG.
Same editor core served from usg-teams.com/filmmaker/. Drafts autosave to your account.
Standard screenplay PDF, plain-text (Fountain), and breakdown-sheet PDF. Files are generated locally on desktop; server-side on web.
What ships today. Screenplay editor with standard formatting, scene breakdowns, character/location auto-index, revision snapshots, PDF and plain-text export. Web app at usg-teams.com/filmmaker/ and self-contained macOS DMG.
Not yet. Native Windows installer (the current Windows and Linux/Source downloads are Python source archives requiring Python 3.11+ on your machine — a packaged installer is on the roadmap). Final Draft / Highland import. Real-time collaborative editing. Stripboard scheduling.
Not tracked. No telemetry from the desktop app. Web app stores drafts scoped to your account only; no third-party analytics or ad trackers.
The web app is the fastest way in. No install required.
